PAWTON QUOIT

This incredible quoit is placed on a raised, oval-shaped earth mound (also containing many small quartz stones) at the top of a field, on the northern side of St Breock Downs. It consists of a massive, horizontally placed capstone with nine smaller upright stones which surround it; and of them, just three support its capstone.

Due to its low height and flat top, Pawton Quoit is thought to have once been completely sealed with earth and quartz.
