STANNON STONE CIRCLE

This large stone circle is located just below Louden Hill, and close to both Lowden and Fernacre stone circles (as well as many other smaller stone settings). The circle consists of around 70 irregular spaced stones, many of which have fallen. To the SW of the circle are two large stones, and another large stone slab half buried within the ground between them; indicating a possible entrance to the circle. This is a grand-looking stone circle with a very high volume of stones, which interestingly appear to have been placed in no apparent order; aside from a few taller, triangular shaped ones placed at certain points. Many of the stones even appear to almost touch one another.
