MERRY MAIDENS STONE CIRCLE

The world famous Merry Maidens Stone Circle stands in a gently sloping field between Lamorna and St Buryan. It consists of 19 evenly spaced stones that have been worked to be level on their tops, and have flat inner facing sides (aside from one). It is an almost true circle, with all its stones at similar heights; just gradually diminishing in size (possibly representing cycles of the moon).

There is a gap on the eastern side which could have been the circle's original entrance, or possibly that a couple of stones have gone missing over time. There are also two stones similar in size, approx 15m to the SE of the circle.
