Amidst incredible panoramic scenery on the southern slopes of Roughtor, stands this
very large and elliptical shaped stone circle. Between 75-95 stones are thought to have originally comprised the site, around 52-60 of them currently remain and of these approx 39 are still standing. All of the circle's
stones are fairly irregular in size, shape
and with the space between one another.
Fernacre Stone Circle is surrounded by 4 hills that relate to points of the compass; Roughtor to the north,
Brown Willy to the east,
Garrow Tor to the south, and Louden Hill to the west.
